• U.S. Breast Cancer Statistics: In 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 62,930 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. That’s approximately 1 in 8 women (American Cancer Society)

• The average 5-year survival rate for women with invasive breast cancer is 90%. The average 10-year survival rate is 83%. If the cancer is located only in the breast, the 5-year survival rate of women with breast cancer is 99%. Sixty-two percent (62%) of cases are diagnosed at this stage.

• About 202,260 new cancer cases and 73,030 cancer deaths are expected to occur among blacks in 2019. African Americans have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial and ethnic group in the U.S. for most cancers.
